I don't give a damn about angbaos this year.

Anybody ever thought about the core ethic about angbao giving?

It's about youngsters paying their respects to the elders or the married ones.

It's not about getting money to buy whatever your heart desires, I'm sorry to pop your pretty bubble.

Think about the previous year. Think about whether those people whom you're paying your respects to and getting angbaos from, really deserve your respects. Their actions in the previous year. Their words. Your bond with them in the previous year, if it's been strengthened or weakened. Reflect upon it.

Don't do it for the sake of doing it, just to get the money. Realise what you're doing by bai nian-ing.

Well, for me, I'm not going to do so this year. Be it I'm in need of money or not. I'm not going to pay respects to people who don't deserve them.
